Have you heard about our nature day summer camps being offered at Building Blocks?
Sign up today for summer camp at Building Blocks to ensure an educational and memorable summer for your child! Explore exciting, inquiry-based STEM camps about engineering, creative arts, drawing, painting, or art. Children will also be heading out on daily adventures to Highland Rec., Dodge 10, Beach days at Teeple Lake, Huron Valley Council of the Arts, and other local hot spots in our community.
Young NATURALISTS at work: Discover the wild world all around you as you practice using scientific tools and explore our trails, pond, and prairie. Peer through a magnifying glass at ants in the grass. Find birds in the trees with binoculars. Meet Michigan animals up close, play silly games, and sing songs. By the end of this camp, you’ll know exactly how to uncover the incredible nature you can find in your own neighborhood.
Get Creative: Get messy and be creative as you explore physics, math, and chemistry to create an array of science-infused art masterpieces. Spin art, natural material creations, bubbling lava lamps, shadow art …You’ve got to see it to believe it! We’ll curate our own art gallery at the end of the summer. Who knew that science infused with art could be so beautiful?
In the Garden: Where does our food come from? Find out the answer as we explore plants from roots to flowers and learn about what they need to survive. Once you’ve seen how humans grow plants for food you’ll choose your own spot in nature and explore how it changes from day to day. View native pollinators up close, cut into stems and seeds to see what’s inside and learn about how animals rely on plants for more than just dinner.
Make, Tinker, Test: Discover the laws of physics while building a boat and test it in the creek. Build a rocket ship and see how high it will take flight. Use your imagination and the scientific method to create complex contraptions by connecting simple open-ended materials as you complete design challenges and test your creations!
Green Hour: The day is full of action-packed events of exploration and then there is a need for slow down time which we call Green hour by playing games, reading, making art, or otherwise relaxing outside.
