Hello Building Blocks families! My name is Tamara Finlay I am an artist, musician, mother, and longtime educator and I am so pleased to be joining this incredible community!

A bit about me:
I was born in Detroit and raised in a bilingual (English/Ukrainian household in Dearborn, MI.

I come from a family of classically trained musicians and teachers and have been singing, performing professionally, and teaching music for most of my life. My experience in children’s music education led me to a position teaching preschool in a Reggio inspired. program at The Roeper School. Following the birth of my son Andre, I took a break from teaching to care for baby while working from home as a caseworker for Ukrainian refugees.

Once Andre turned 2, I began searching for a school where I could teach and where my son. could grow according to the principles, I hold close to my heart. It was nothing short of miraculous that I found Building Blocks at just the right time and I’m so grateful for the warm welcome me and Andre have received by this talented and caring crew of educators. I truly look forward to getting to know the amazing children, families, and staff here and raising my own child in this wonderful community!
